On Wednesday, March 13, 2019, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on suspect Alpheus Bass III, 30 years of age, of the 1200 block of Verl Place in St. Louis, Missouri 63133, for one count of Murder in the First Degree, one count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and two counts of Armed Criminal Action. Bass was arrested on Thursday, March 14, and is being held on a $500,000 cash only bond. A mugshot of Bass is attached.
The probable cause statement reads: The Defendant caused the death of Aashya Quarles by shooting her from a vehicle. The Defendant is seen driving the suspect vehicle minutes after the homicide. The suspect vehicle is also seen outside of a beauty supply shop where the victim was inside just prior to the homicide. The Defendant is on video exiting the suspect vehicle minutes after the homicide.
Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons are conducting the investigation.
