On Monday, March 11, 2019, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on suspect Derrick Sanders Jr., 23 years of age, of the 7000 block of Florence Place in Jennings, Missouri 63136, for one count of Murder in the First Degree and one count of Armed Criminal Action. Sanders is being held without a bond. A mugshot of Sanders is attached.
The probable cause statement reads: Victim was located in Jennings with stab wounds. She was transported to the hospital where she died. The Defendant was located at another hospital with knife wounds to his hands. The vehicle that he was driving was covered in blood and he confessed to stabbing someone in it. In a further interview, the Defendant confesses to meeting the victim earlier the night before and driving around with her. He confesses to pulling a knife out of his pocket and stabbing her after a verbal altercation. A warrant is requested due to the Defendant being a danger to society.
Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons are conducting the investigation.
