On Monday, February 29, 2016, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on Leonard Debello, 71 years of age, of the 4300 block of Big Chief Drive, St. Louis, MO 63123, for one count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon Motivated by Discrimination. Debello is being held on a $15,000 cash only bond. A mugshot of Debello is attached.
The probable cause statement reads: Victim’s were looking for a house for sale. Defendant drove by the victim’s and shouted, “You Muslim? All of you should die.” Defendant then parked in his driveway, and walked to his porch. Defendant shouted from the porch, “This state allows you to carry a gun and shoot you.” Defendant went inside the house and came out holding a gun and pointed the gun at the victims while saying, “You, your wife and your kids have to die.” Defendant further stated that he was going to take a picture of Victims’ license plate and come hunt them down. Defendant admits saying, “You (expletive) Muslims.” Police recovered a silver and black handgun and rifle form the Defendant’s residence.
Officers from the St. Louis County Police Department’s Affton Southwest Precinct conducted the investigation and presented the case to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office this afternoon where the above charges were issued.
