At approximately 12:00 a.m. on February 5, 2016, the Moline Acres Police Department received a call for a check the welfare in the 9800 block of Wendell. A man claiming to be the victim’s boyfriend contacted police stating that his girlfriend Tami Allen, 32 years of age, who resided in the 9800 block of Wendell, had sent him text messages stating someone was inside her house and she couldn’t talk.
The Moline Acres Police Department responded to the call and noticed forced entry was made through the back door of the residence. Moline Acres police officers located Tami Allen in the living room of the residence severely injured with multiple stab wounds. Tami Allen was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries. The St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons was requested by Moline Acres PD to handle the investigation.
On Friday, February 19, 2016, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on Kevin Fields, 31 years of age, of the 4300 block of Humphrey Street, St. Louis, MO 63116, for one count of Murder in the 1st Degree, one count of Armed Criminal Action, one count of Robbery in the 1st Degree, and one count of Burglary in the 1st Degree. Fields is in custody; no bond has been set. A photo of Fields is attached.
The probable cause statement reads: On or about February 4, 2016, in the County of St. Louis, the defendant unlawfully entered the victim’s residence and killed her by means of blunt force trauma and stabbing. During the course of the murder, the defendant forcibly stole the victim’s cell phone and wallet.
Detectives from the St. Louis County Police Crimes Against Person’s Unit conducted the investigation and presented the case to the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office where the above charges were issued.
